Bringing in an online business manager is a big step. You’re handing over part of how your business runs, and it’s normal to wonder what you’ll actually see in return, and when.

Here’s what a well-run first 90 days looks like. Use it to set expectations with any OBM you hire, including me.

Before day one: agree what success looks like

The most important conversation happens before the work starts. Agree on:

Write it down on one page. You’ll come back to it at day 90.

Days 1–30: Learn, map and stabilise

The first month is about understanding how your business really works and stopping the most painful leaks. Don’t expect a grand new system yet.

Days 31–60: Build and organise

With the map done, the second month is when the systems take shape.

Days 61–90: Run, measure and improve

The third month is about running the new system smoothly and proving it works.

What you should notice

The 90-day review

Sit down together and go back to the one-page agreement from day one:

  1. Did we hit the three outcomes? If not, why not?
  2. What has improved that we didn’t expect?
  3. What’s still causing friction?
  4. What should the OBM own next quarter?
  5. Is the scope still right? Some clients expand at this point; others find they need less once the systems are in place.

Warning signs to watch for

A good OBM relationship should feel lighter within the first month. Watch out if:

Raise these early. Most can be fixed with clearer ownership and a better weekly rhythm.

How I structure this

My work follows the same arc: an Operations & AI Audit to map the business, a build phase to set up the systems, then a monthly retainer to run and improve them. If you’d like to talk through what your first 90 days could look like, book a call.
